The book design for Invisible Cities

This typography project focused on designing the book’s spreads using various fonts and layouts to capture the essence of the content. I selected Chapter 5, “Continuous Cities,” from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities for this assignment.

In this chapter, the city is portrayed as a mysterious and ambiguous place, leaving its visitors in a state of confusion and illusion. As the narrator traverses the city, its landscape becomes increasingly uncertain and perplexing. I aimed to mirror this continuous journey through the design of the spreads, effectively translating the text’s thematic elements into visual form. Both English and Korean versions were created to extend the reach and impact of this design exploration.
